- I have a large old rug not suitable for use indoors and rather than take it to recycling centre they do make very good insulation to heat up a compost heap. I've used them in the past when I had a garden big enough for large compost heap. I reckon I could have fried an egg on top of the one with the old carpet on top. It is very heavy so will need a strong person to lift it into your vehicle. I want it gone very soon please as I've been let down on another free site.
