I need some information on a reliable repairman for electric furnaces...let me give you my story. On Feb. 21st the furnace in our condo quit working...we called the management, they recommended we call this repairman. (Z.) We did. As soon as he walked in the door...$150.00...Tested the furnace fan, cooling & heat units...no problems. tested thermostat, found a couple twisted wires and repaired them...no parts at all were installed ! Cost of this???? $250.00 ...add $52.00 HST and a few minutes later...a whopping bill for $452.00. On Mar. 16th...less than a month later, it stopped again, but now we know it's a thermostat problem...middle of that night (after temp hit 69) it started up again, and at the moment is working. We now plan to get a new thermostat installed...but definitely will NOT call him again...anyone have suggestions for if and when we need repair work done ? I'd appreciate it (Shakell's kept the elderly gas furnace working in our old house, but don't know if they work on electric furnaces.
