A chair with a history: it belonged to my mother-in-law. I broke the seat when changing a light bulb for her. I cut a new seat from MDF, and she re-did the upholstery.
After the Second World war she worked as an upholsterer. During the war, as a young woman, she packed parachutes for the RAF. She complained to the factory foreman that some of the parachutes were being sloppily packed. She was made a leading-hand - I bet she was not popular.
