Singer 533 Sewing Machine (Hollingthorpe WF4)

When needle is lowered it does not pick up the spool thread but the spool in it is the wrong one. Instruction Book is on a CD as I downloaded. I was given the Machine by a friend but don't need it so hoping someone else can use it (Friend has agreed to my offering it) Please don't ask for it if you wont be collecting as it has already been offered to someone who stopped replying.
