We used the washing line a cemented holder in the ground - unfortunately the pole at the base of the washing line rusted - see photo - from being left in the holder - but I think you could replace it with a length of pipe less than 3.5 cm diameter which would fit onto the washing line and into the ground spike (enclosed) which we have never used. The top of the rotary line is is excellent condition and works well .
