1. Kingfisher Science Encyclopedia (1991) – 10 hardcover volumes of appr 75 pages each. Illustrated entries with do-it-yourself projects for many entries. Contains biographic information on many scientists, historical timelines, vocabulary, hardware diagrams, etc.
2, Funk & Wagnalls New Encyclopedia of Science (1984) 20 hardcover volumes of apprx 85 pages ac. Additional book contains projects for each volume, plus an index and bibliography. Illustrated with photos, charts, and graphs. Includes pronunciation of each entry.
3. Raintree Illustrated Science Encyclopedia (1979) – 20 hardcover volumes of apprx 95 pages each. Has a projects section at the end of each volume. Text appears to be the same as the Funk & Wagnalls set (see above.)
4. Golden Book Encyclopedia (1970) – 16 hardcover volumes of apprx 100 each. Although quite dated, this illustrated set might be useful for a student browsing for new topics of interest that can be researched in-depth with current reference materials.
