This is a fantastic stair gate. I've taken ours down so can't show a picture of it up, hence I've posted the official website photo.
Basically, it's like a roller blind. When you want it open you roll it out and six or to the other side of the stairs or door frame. When you don't want it open, it rolls back into the cassette.
Our cassette is missing a bit of casting at the top, but doesn't impact it working.
