Donations for vulnerable young people project

I am the Centre Co-Ordinator at TCHC Group LTD in Ipswich. We are an Education and Training provider who support vulnerable young people who have experienced barriers to their learning throughout their lives. All our learners have faced significant challenges in the past, for a multitude of reasons. Many of them are unable to manage in mainstream education and have experienced significant periods absence from school. Our aim is to support young people in Ipswich and the surrounding area, who have faced barriers to learning, to re-engage with education and to obtain qualifications and life skills; ultimately giving them brighter prospects for the future.

This academic year, I will be completing a project with all learners with the aim of teaching them construction and cooking skills. Firstly, we will create an outdoor space to grow our own vegetables. We will construct a vegetable garden and each learner will have their own patch to grow vegetables of their choosing. Later in the year, we are going to complete a cooking lesson with the learners; where they will turn their own vegetables into a meal that they can take home to their families. This project provides them with a range of life skills and techniques to support them in the future.

Funding within education is reducing and we hope to find new and creative ways to deliver learning and not to allow budget cuts to prevent our learners from receiving the high-quality education that they deserve.

If there is any chance that your organisation are able to help with a donation of items to support this project, we would be incredibly grateful. Below is a list of items which would be relevant:

Vegetable Seeds
Gardening tools – trowels, watering can, bamboo sticks, gloves
Compost
Plant pots
Netting
Pallets
Nails/Screws

Water butt
Outdoor storage (old bike shed type storage for keeping pallets in)
Fairy lights
Plants such as herbs/spices , strong smelling flowers, hardy plants for winter
