I think it works. I stupidly sold my last dvd and gave away my last cd-r/dvd-r’s, so I can’t properly test the device. However, my MacBook does recognise it as an external drive.
The last time I used it (admittedly it was years ago) it worked flawlessly. Happy to take it back if it turns out it doesn’t work.
