Cosmos is a pretty annual flower, quick to germinate, easy to grow, drought tolerant, good for containers, good for pollinators, good for cut flowers. What's not to like?
Sow any time in spring and they're fairly fast to flower and keep going until ~October if they're happy and you keep deadheading and treat them well. Ideally full sun and good drainage, but I don't have that and they're fine.
