Blanket box (Craiglockhart EH14)

Wooden blanket box believed to be 70+ years old. It belonged to my parents so a shame if it cannot be of further use, either as original intent or, say, a toy box or garage storage.
Measures approx 102 x 53 cm and 47cm tall/deep.
In sturdy condition with no evidence of woodworm
