Oliso iron, not working (Old Ottawa south)

This iron is about 20 years old and worked fine until recently. Despite troubleshooting, it's behaving oddly, flashing red and orange lights etc. It has auto-lift, but it's not engaging at the right time. Good if you would like a project to work on.
