Well regarded vinyl turntable (Tiffield NN12)

DUAL CS-505 II. There are good reviews on the internet.

Has been unused for some years.

What works
- all the bits for the arm are there so it can be balanced and then set up with the correct playing weight & bias; I’ve checked that.
– the arm can be unclipped and moved towards the record; there is a ‘click’ which means that the motor should start; but it doesn’t. Maybe the on/off micro-switch is sticking.

What’s not so good
- there is a cartridge but no stylus; an ‘O5E’ would be a good, starter, replacement; available on the internet for less than £9. An essential item !
- the drive belt looks like it ought to be replaced. Any generic ‘CS505’ belt should do; available on the internet for less than £4. Until the motor is running you can’t check if the belt is OK enough.
- the pitch adjust belt has disintegrated; available on the internet for about £6. If you’re pitch sensitive then this could be necessary to set the exact playing speed.
- there’s no lid; hard to find these days.

Also included – translated copy (from German) of the essentials of the User Manual
