- The hole for the light fitting is larger than on a traditional lampshade, at 45mm. An adapter can be obtained to reduce this, but I do not have one. The diameter at the rim is 36cm. Being metal, it is moderately heavy at 0.9kg, so should be properly supported.

- This ten volume encyclopaedia is sadly not dated, but perhaps the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II gives a clue. It is not arranged alphabetically as a traditional encyclopaedia would be, but rather consists of a large number of articles which can be followed systematically or dipped into. There are many pictures, some in colour, as the portrait of the queen illustrates. Some of the information will inevitably be dated, but much of the content remains timeless, such as history, poetry and classic stories. Best wishes, Ian.

- This encyclopaedia is sadly undated, but although it mentions the restructuring of British railways in 1923, there is no mention of the planet Pluto, which was discovered in 1930. Thus it is of historical interest rather than an up to date source of knowledge! Best wishes, Ian.

- Ten pieces of wood, used. Eight are sawn (ie not planed smooth) spars suitable for building a stud wall, although three are a bit damaged at one end, as can be seen in the photos. They have been stored in the shed for about three years, and I now see the roof is leaking slightly, so there is evidence of some damp, which can also be seen in the photos. This will dry happily given some better storage. The other two pieces are random, but may be useful. Sizes - all in cm: The eight are 243x7.5x3.5; one is 230x14.5x4.5 and one is 100x12.5x5.

- My mother remembers this chest of drawers in her house when she was little. Mum is 91. It is in full working order, although I'll be honest, the lower two drawers are slightly stiff to operate in places. The size is 76cm wide, 45cm deep and 93cm high.
