- DC SHARES Reuses Wheelchairs, Equip A non-profit est. 2007, it collects disability equipment which is distributed free of charge to needy DC RESIDENTS. Information and referral services are provided to those with medical insurance and/or Medicare/Medicaid. Reusable disability equipment types are manual wheelchairs and lifts, walkers, aluminum crutches, canes, bedside commodes, shower chairs, and other Assistive-Technology devices. Powered-motorized equipment and wooden crutches are not collected. Pickup service is not provided and equipment donors are also needed to deliver their equipment to DC SHARES Center.
