Free: Toiletries Bags/Case & Soap Holder (Queen St & Hwy #410) 8h - Vintage Pebbled Leather Collapsible Case Unsure of age, at least 60 years old, perhaps much older. (No apparent brand name or manufacturer on it to look up.) Black pebbled leather with soft/expandable sides and leather-covered hard top/bottom. Exterior is well worn, showing signs of age. Interior is in poor condition, mostly due to age. A small (8cmx12cm) mirror included, which I believe came with the case. Snap button closure on top. Small loop handle on end of case. "Denver Hays" Toiletries Bag In very good condition, about 15-20 years old. Soft-sided sort of black "faux leather", with zippered side pocket and zippered interior pocket. Vintage Soap Holder (~1960s) by "Fuller Brush" Spiked Dish Insert "Soap Saver" - Pink Plastic - Like New Flexible plastic with embossed Fuller logo on both sides. Raised spikes keep the soap bars from resting in moisture. Free: Antique Wooden Armchair (Queen St & Hwy #410) Gifted 12d - Unsure of age: approx. 70-100 years old? (It has not actually been used in over 30 years.) I do first remember it being in my parent's home about 60 years ago. There are images of similar chairs online, but not a lot of definitive information on the possible history of this particular chair. There are no apparent manufacturer's markings on the chair. This seems to have been a very popular/common style of chair in the 19th century & early 20th century. I have seen them described as "Windsor" chairs. The chair had some crude repairs done to it many years ago, with tape and wire. It obviously could use refinishing, and some repairs, unless someone likes a really "distressed" looking wood finish. It has always had an old handmade(?) feather cushion, for the seat (as pictured). I did not attempt to wash the cushion, as I fear it would fall apart. The cushion is well worn/aged but has no apparent stains or holes, aside from a loose/separated seam. Pickup in the Queen St & Hwy #410 area of Brampton. Free: Two Kitchen/Dining Chairs (Queen St & Hwy #410) Gifted 12d - Purchased from a Sears store in July 2011. "Made in Malaysia" Cushioned seat & back. No apparent stains or wear marks. Free: Old Handmade Quilt (Queen St & Hwy #410) Expired 17d - Unsure of age, about 40 - 60 years? This is not a real fancy quilt nor real heavy. It was basically made from leftover fabrics, so some patterns and colours dont' match. Patterned side is not in very good condition, mostly due to age. There are several worn fabric pieces and some loose threads. The quilt has been carefully washed. There are no apparent stains. The size is about 60" x 68". (This model does not have a battery so needs to be plugged in for use. Vehicle engine should be running during use or lamp will drain battery fairly quickly.) Built-in metal hanger and a recessed switch guard to prevent accidental activation. It is supposed to float and work underwater, but I never tested it. (I am not sure how you would safely plug it into a battery while it was underwater.) Made in U.S.A. Free: Old Bible (Mid 1800s) (Queen St & Hwy #410) Gifted 55d - "COTTAGE BIBLE VOL. 1." Published in mid 1800s (~1840-1880?) Pages numbered to 736. Most of the printing is very small. (I had to use a magnifying glass to read it.) Several quite detailed B&W lithographs in the first part of the volume. Two pages of maps on the back pages. Aside from the gold engraved front cover ["JOHN & GRACE McKENZIE."], there is no apparent writing or personal information on/in the volume. Free: "Flags of Empire" (1941) Booklet (Queen St & Hwy #410) Expired 70d - A collection and brief description of the flags of the British Empire and its dominions from 1941 during the Second World War. This 10-page booklet was published by Maple Leaf Milling company to advertise Red River Cereal. The book includes pictures and short descriptions of the Canadian Ensign, the White Ensign, the Royal Standard, the Union Jack, the New Zealand flag, the Australian flag, the Canadian Active Service flag and the flag of South Africa, and in the back cover, the Canadian Air Force Flag. The inside of the front cover shows the poem ‘Our Empire’. There are several small stains and some discolouration on different pages of the booklet. Free: Glass Tray & Frosted Glass Tile (Queen St & Hwy #410) Expired 70d - Heavy glass tray (about 12"x12") from old microwave (1982). This originally served as the bed of the microwave and so was removable for cleaning. (It was not intended for oven or stovetop use.) I saved this glass piece after disposing of the old microwave. It could hopefully have other uses. Glass tile (about 10"x10"); frosted glass texture; approx. 30-50 years old. Original source not known to me. Pickup in the Queen St & Hwy #410 area of Brampton. Free: 1966 Wall Map of Canada (40"x36") (Queen St & Hwy #410) Gifted 70d - Printed in 1966 by the "Department of Energy, Mines and Resources: Surveys and Mappings Branch" Canada. Scale 100 Miles to 1 Inch. No apparent tears or stains. Slight fading/yellowing on some of the back of the map. Map is unframed and has been stored (folded up) for probably 50 years. Most items have not been used in 10 - 15 years, so will need some cleaning. Glasses are in good condition, with some actually never having been used. (The exception is the "Arizona" shot glass which needs to have the decorative spider reattached.) This was a popular/common Corelle pattern at the time.) - 4 Dinner Plates - 4 Cereal Bowls - 4 Dessert Bowls - 1 Serving Bowl - 4 Cups - 2 Saucers - 1 Gravy Boat w/Plate Total of 21 pieces. Dishes have been well used over the years but have no apparent chips or cracks. The gravy boat/plate is like new. Free: NHL Sporticatures Iron-on Transfers (Queen St & Hwy #410) Gifted 186d - Kellogg's 1970-1971 NHL "Sporticatures" Iron-on Transfers Available back in the day through a Kellogg's cereal mail-in promotion. Intended to be applied to t-shirts and sweatshirts and jackets, they measure 6-1/2" by 8-1/2" and feature the artwork of Bob Pelkowski. Players include Phil Esposito, Ron Ellis and Stan Mikita. The Ron Ellis iron-on transfer was used on a t-shirt, so the ink is quite faded, but the other two were never used and are in good condition. Free: New Zealand Jade "Greenstone" Piece (Queen St & Hwy #410) Gifted 237d - This is a raw cut piece of nephrite jade, purchased in 1977 in Auckland, New Zealand. This was not an expensive purchase at the time (around $5), but may have more value today. From / : "Nephrite is one of the two distinct minerals commonly known as jade. While nephrite doesn't match the variety or the fine green colors found in jadeite, it's even more durable as a gem material for jewelry and carved objects." "The Maori people of New Zealand have a long history of working jade for a variety of beautiful artistic pieces as well as utilitarian objects.
