Free: Vintage (1960s) Morphy Richards Convection Heater (Ravelston EH4) - This is a 1960s convection heater which is still in good working order with a thermostat. It will heat a small to medium sized room without any noise as there is no fan. The case has some rusty spots which are clearly visible in the photo, but it should clear up well with a bit of careful light sanding.

Free: SCSI Tower/PC for spares or repair - needs SCSI hard drive (Ravelston EH4) Expired - This is a large solidly built all-SCSI Tower PC that would make a good server if you can install the SCSI disks. It has a Pentium 450 CPU and it already at the max memory which the motherboard will support (256MB, I think) so it is a bit underpowered for WIndows 10 or 11, but would be OK as a Windows Server server. It has an Adaptec 2940 SCSI adapter, external SCSI connection port, a SCSI CD read-write drive and a SCSI DVD drive (read-only) and several other extra bits of kit, so it could be broken down for components to use or sell as spares on Ebay. The components include LS-120 drive instead of a floppy disk drive Network card TV Tuner 4x USB 2.0 ports PSU with pass-through socket for powering a monitor Sound card - see pictures for more details It was custom built by Grampian Computers in Perth to be a top-of the range PC/Tower (at the time) with plenty of expansion options. and all the parts are in good working order despite it's age. It booted up no problem this morning but will a new hard drive to work now, All the SCSI cables and Hard Drive power supplies are still in place and the case is quite easy to open. It is large (64cm high X 19cm wide) and heavy, so will need a car with a decent sized boot to collect. If you reply, please give your mobile number to arrange collection at a mutually agreeable time, today or at the weekend.

Free: HP Laserjet 4050 (Ravelston EH4) Expired - Professional office quality with built-in networking and double-sided printing. Monochrome (black & white) printing only, but it uses big toner cartridges which make it cheap to run overall. And you can get any compatible replacement cartridges, unlike new HP printers which will only accept much pricier HP-only cartridges. And the cartridge in it is still about half full. The one I'm offering has been in unused in storage for a while but was working fine before it went into storage. It is now a bit dusty and will need a clean. It is heavy and will need a car with a big boot to collect it. Going to the re-cycling centre at the end of the week if no-one is interested. If you do reply, please give a phone number in your response to organise a quick collection. Any reasonable time this week will be fine.

Free: Compaq Armada Laptop with docking station and Office 97 (Ravelston EH4) Gifted - This is an old (1990s) professional/business Compaq Armada 1750 Pentium II laptop with a matching networked docking station in very good condition for its age. It was originally a Windows 95 laptop, but was upgraded to Win 98 and now has a new install of Windows XP and Office 97. It has been upgraded to have the maximum amount of memory the motherboard will support, but this is only 320MB and not enough to run Windows 10 or 11. The CD drive has been upgraded to a DVD drive which is fast enough to play DVDs. The screen is 15" so big enough for movies etc., but its not widescreen with DVDs The built-in stereo speakers are good quality too, loud enough, but not that powerful by modern standards The floppy disk drive has been upgraded one which works with LS-120 disks (much larger 120MB capacity) and normal 1.44MB floppy disks. You can install batteries in two bays if you replace the floppy disk drive with a spare battery (included) The power supply is built in, so you don't need to carry round a separate transformer PSU unit. The docking station has a built in network socket, so you can connect to the internet easily with an ethernet cable. It does not have built-in Wi-Fi and you'd have to get a PCMCIA network card (around £5 on Ebay) if you want to use it with Wi-Fi as the USB Ports are only v1.1 and are not likely to be fast enough for a USB WiFi dongle. A combo Compaq PCMCIA Network/Modem card and all the original Compaq manuals are included if you want them (not pictured) The docking station has a full set of the connectors that you'd expect from the time - Serial and Parallel ports, Audio jacks for stereo headphones and microphone, 2 x PS/2 ports for a separate mouse and keyboard, but only one USB port. and only VGA video. It will support pretty well any size of monitor as the weight capacity is Great if you want to do all the computing basics - browsing, email, Word and Excel and even Access databases and you're happy with a solid laptop that should still have many years of life left in it, but can't really be upgraded any further. Kids and teenagers aren't likely to be interested, so you'd better check with them first Various installation CDs included if you want them,. If you want to try installing Linux you'll have to get the installation media yourself If you respond, **please be sure to include a contact phone number** so we can arrange a mutually agreeable time for collection. **Not available for collection today, Sunday evening or sometime next week**

Free: Compaq Evo W6000 SCSI Server for spares or repair (No HDDs) (Ravelston EH4) Gifted - A big, solidly built Compaq server, with 1.5 GB of memory, extra USB slots, VGA or DVI video card, built in SCSI on the motherboard, SCSI CD Reader/Writer and SCSI DVD reader, but with NO (SCSI) HARD DRIVES. If you can fit replacement SCSI hard Drives, this should be a reliable server as it's built to last (and quite heavy). You can add an extra Xeon processor as it has two CPU sockets, and upgrade the memory a little, but it's unlikely to be enough memory for WIndows 10. It was running Windows XP no problem and Windows 2000 or any Linux OS should be fine The SCSI hard drives should slot in easily from the front and the SCIS cable has connectors for two hard drives already.. If you are familiar with the jumper settings and the configuration software to get the correct "termination" set-up, it ought to be easy to get it running again, but doing the configuration is beyond me. A PS2 Keyboard and Mouse are included, but no monitor. It is quite heavy and bulky, so if you have a small car, you'll need to keep the boot clear to collect it See the sample picture of the case, plus an actual picture of the interior for more info. You can also find specs and manuals online, e.g. Happy to discuss or answer any questions as far as I can. Reply with your number if you want a call

Request: WORKING Panasonic DMW-BMB9E battery for Lumix DC-FZ82 camera (Ravelston EH4) Expired - Hello, I'm looking for a WORKING Panasonic DMW-BMB9E lithium-ion battery to test my camera as I can't tell if the battery is dead, or the camera is broken. I don't need the battery to have a lot of life left, but I do need it to be charged and for it to work as I'll buy a new battery if the camera is still working, There might be several Panasonic batteries that are the right shape and spec, e.g. for camcorders, but what I'm looking for specifically is a 7.2v DMW-BMB9E battery to test in my Panasonic/Lumix DC-FZ82 camera. It was bought at Costco a couple of years ago. Happy to drive to anywhere in or around Edinburgh to collect See pictures for more details of the battery and the camera

Free: Toshiba Tecra A9 with faulty internal monitor and no HDD (Ravelston EH4) Gifted - Toshiba Tecra A9 (faulty - internal monitor does not display, external monitor works fine, NO HDD) for spares or repair. This laptop is in good cosmetic condition for its age with only a few very small scratches on the case, and the screen looks just as good, or better, but the monitor does not display at all and the hard drive has been removed. It has upgraded memory to the maximum the motherboard allows (4GB), and is otherwise complete. All the peripherals work. The keyboard and touchpad are fine. The battery still charges a bit, but is on it's last legs - hence the near-permanant recent operaton in a docking station It originally ran on Windows 7 Pro, and was upgraded to Windows XP Pro, then Windows 10 Pro, and it ran all of these well enough, but was a bit slow with Win10 until the hard-drive was upgraded to an SDD. You'll need a 2.5” SATA drive to make it all work or test it thoroughly. Anything from 80GB to 1TB should do. The original Toshiba power supply is included and works fine. Any support/re-install CDs are not included - now lost or not in the original retail box. The original retail box is available if you want it - please ask. Or it can be collected in an airsac + cardboard box The monitor wasn't used for some time as it was always in a docking station during lockdown, connected to an external monitor which all worked perfectly well. It's just about possible that the built-in monitor stopped working because the Win10 upgrade lost the necesarcy drivers for the monitor or the keyboard (where the Fn-F5 key toggles between external and internal montitors). or it could be a loose connection inside the case, but it could be that the internal monitor is simply dead - no sign of life at all. The laptop has a VGA port, so you can connnect and external monitor without using a docking station, and you can download drivers and manuals from the dynabook (Toshiba) website: The Tecra A9 full spec is here: I also have a matching docking station available. If you'd like both, please ask. Or look up the offer and reply to that too

Free: Two dozen glass storage/preservative jars (Ravelston EH4) Gifted - These are a mixture of glass jars from Bertolli, Branstons pickle, Crespo, Douwe Egberts Coffee jars with airtight lids. See the photo for examples. They have mostly been washed and cleaned in a dishwasher so are ready for use, but some are a bit dusty. The labels have been cleanly removed to make them presentable so there is no trace of paper or glue, but some of the Douwe Egberts jars still have the labels on them. If you reply, please give a phone number to ensure a response and to arrange mutually convenient collection from the Ravelston area, near Mary Erskine's school

Free: Approx 9m of Broadband Coaxial cable (Ravelston EH4) Expired - Approximately 9 metres of good quality Broadband coaxial cable left over from an installation. White colour. This is suitable for Sky, Virgin Media, Telewest etc. Please give a contact phone number if you reply. Free: Karcher steam cleaner (Ravelston EH4) Gifted - Karcher Steam Cleaner Model SC1122 for spares or repair. This is used, working and complete with all accessories and user manual, but the socket which should hold the flexible pipe in place doesn't click firmly in position, so the pipe can pop out. It could be an easy fix, but you will need long Torx drivers to open the case and replace or clean the "Unit Socket" - part A6 as shown in the attached photo of the "Equipment Features" The Floor cloths and the window cleaning tool are unused. The scrubbing brushes have been used and the larger one could do with a soak to clean it. If you reply, please give a phone number to ensure a response and to arrange mutually convenient collection from the Ravelston area, near Mary Erskine's school

There are no bang up-to-date modules in this bundle, so they won't upgrade your latest PC. Free: Spare wooden shelf, desktop for 90s Homebase Shelving System (Ravelston EH4) Gifted - On offer: One shelf, one desktop and two cross-braces for a Homebase shelving system. This is from a wooden shelving system that Homebase sold in the 90s - very similar to Ikea's "Ivar" shelving system but with different dimensions and fittings. If you have the Homebase system already, the shelf and the desktop should fit straight in. They are unlikely to fit any other systems and Homebase stopped selling it years ago, so you are unlikely to find new components that are directly compatiple either. You might be able to alter them to fit some similar designs if you have some metalworking or carpentry skills. The shelf area is 75.5cm wide X 36cm deep, (or 785mm wide including the interlocking metal flanges) The Desktop is 75.5cm wide X 60cm deep, has a slot for pens or pencils, doesn't need the metal flanges and could be mounted on trestles or similar as a stand-alone desk. If you have the original Homebase supports it just slots in to the holes in the wooden supports and I still have the metal pins you'll need for that. The two cross-braces are 1 x 72cm and 1 x 1020 cm and they should work with any similar style of shelving system - Ikea or whatever. If you reply, please give a phone number to ensure a response and to arrange mutually convenient collection from the Ravelston area, near Mary Erskine's school
