Bicycle, 20 inch frame, mid 1990s. (Kemnay AB51)
31d
- Blue frame. Bought from Halfords in the 90s. It started life as Shimanu/Derailleur. As it went up farm tracks the mechanism clogged with mud so it was modified by Pedal Power (Inverurie) & became a hybrid with front derailleur and rear 4-speed hub. Eventually the sprockets and chain wore. We bought new and couldn't get them working together. The hub is in fine working order except that the in-hub brake linings are worn out. It should be possible to revert to original caliper brakes. We failed and gave up. Cue the local expert! It must be fixable if you know what you're doing. (I used to when bikes were working-men's everyday transport and were fixed with tools in the saddle-bag.) It will need new tyres. Don't hope to ride it away, but you can wheel it.

- Twenty volumes in binders of 'How it Works'. Salf-explanatory, really. Ideal for youngsters who can put down the smartphone for a while and for adults who thirst for knowledge. If you're of my vintage and remember the centrefold in 'Eagle' you'll love these. Very tidy and clean. Please bring a box of sorts or take them loose - I'm desperate for packing as I'm having a massive eBay/Freegle clear-out.

Roadworks lamp, old paraffin type. (Kemnay AB51)

- Red body, red lens. I haven't a clue where it came from. Whatever its history, I really doubt that any local authority or contractor will come looking for it. It's just looking for a new custodian. It doesn't have its tank-and-wick workings but could be 'electrified' - but please, only if you can do it safely.

- Eleven books on farming. These were given to my son when he was at Clinterty 20-25 years ago, so will predate the 1990s. All hardbacks, in good condition. A few random titles - 'Cereal Pesta and Diseases' 'Health & Disease in Farm Animals' 'Calf Rearing' - and so on.
