Hi, my son just turned 13 and is autistic with limited speech and hardly any social skills and absolutely no social life outside of school. He has always been fascinated and fond of electronics; from video games to computers & tablets (like any kid nowadays). He has always wanted to be a video game developer/computer "repairman" or "custom gaming computer builder". We recently upgraded our household computers and he took all, our old ones, as well as a local neighbors, and went through them one by one; fixing, upgrading, experimenting, etc. When he completed all these, I suggested he list them on CL for sale to buy himself a nicer laptop/computer, but he had a response that blew my mind! Instead of selling them, he wanted to donate them to needy families and his local autism, resource center. The kid even donated his personal PC when he saw how many kids didn't have 1, and for the first time in ages he smiled ear to ear and felt accomplished. This is something he wants to continue, and of course I fully support him and his wishes. He even has his siblings wanting to help and make it a family "thing". This alone made me want to run to every store and CL ad to buy ones for him to to do this. Unfortunately for him, I am not a rich man, he is one of 4 kids and he has another disabled brother. My bills greatly exceed my income, so funding this is next to impossible. I figured I could post these wanted ads somewhat locally and I can contribute by trying to source/pickup any used or broken computers, parts, etc.
So please, if you or anyone you know has any computers that are used and slow, broken but repairable, etc and are willing to help another child or family in need, please contact me with any & all details you know; manufacturer and model (Dell, HP, Nextbook, Mac, etc), which operating system if it has one (Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10; Linux; Mac/Apple; Android), and if it works or what is wrong with it, or any parts you may have, as well as a location/contact info is greatly appreciated.
If you have a working system or needs very little (preferably a laptop) that is newer and is powerful enough to multitask and help my kids research & "build/repair" these computers, I will cconsider any good deals
We live in West Boylston (Worcester area), but travel almost weekly to Waltham or Cape Cod to see family & such.
Any and all donations are greatly appreciated, as well as passing the word along if you may know someone that can help as well. Thank you for your time just reading this! Have a great evening!
