- These are 10 skinny blue books, with golden embossed title edges... each fully illustrated going from 4000 BC to 1937, the precipice of World War II and when these volumes were published. Grandpa Giacomo, an Italian autodidact, kept a well-rounded library. He also had an aesthetic eye and these various volume collections are attractive as well as chock full of information. Interesting to see where 150 smart historians in 1937 thought the pre-history of the world began at that time, inconceivable to think of millions or even billions of years. This is a kind of time travel book series, people! Have fun!

- Another Grandpa Giacomo exclusive.. World Literary Masterpieces in a lovely set of 9 volumes, in beautiful bindings... with the good translations. Sorry I never got a chance to know what he was reading all along. There's one here called the Autobiography of Benvenuto Cellini, a fellow Italian. And the Russians are represented by The Brothers Karamazov. And of course, Dickens' David Copperfield, Swift's Gulliver, Scott's Ivanhoe and Victor Hugo's Hunchback! Sorry to say Giacomo hadn't experienced the magnificent Latin American writers. But they only appeared in English much later...
