Done with that Mini-Van or SUV? Donate it to Consider the Homeless! Twice a week, year-round, we drive around Berkeley serving homemade soup and bread (donated by Acme) to around 70 unhoused folks on the street. Our current van is showing its (old!) age, and is really struggling to complete the rounds. Do you, or anyone you know have a van or SUV you might be willing to donate? We are a 501(c)(3) organization and would be happy to provide a letter of acknowledgment for your tax records. What we need: minivan or SUV in good shape, less than 10 years old, less than 100,000 miles (naturally, the newer/lower mileage the better). We serve the soup directly from the rear, so it can't be too high off the ground. Removable seats are best since we carry supplies to distribute, too. A "commercial" model might work best, since they are typically set up with the seats removed - but only if it isn't already too worn out. Contact me with any questions or offers. Thanks!

I cleaned out half my pond and have several dozen hardy pink water lily corms (i.e. bulbs) to spare. They've expanded from the 3 corms I planted 25+ years ago so they do like it here. The floating mass is the corms, tuberous roots, and some tiny leaf shoots. Now's the time to stock your pond! They float like crazy, you'll need to anchor them in a sunken pot or a mud bottom.
