Black leather boots - perished section above soles (Newcastle Central NE1)

Black leather zip-up boots, size 39 (approx 5/6). The make is MBTs - Masai Barefoot Technology. I have had many of their footwear products over the past 15 years, and they're superb , very comfortable and hardwearing. These boots are in good condition above the soles, as are the soles themselves. However, as you can see in the pictures, the rubber section between the soles and the boots is perishing. The company can't/won't repair and I've no idea if anything can be "cobbled together" to deal with this. This may just be cosmetic at this stage - I don't think they are letting in water - but I don't have the skills or time to work it out! If you would like them for the leather and buckles, or to have a go at using them as boots, I'd love them not to be wasted!
