My wife plays competitively and was ranked 2nd in Texas for women at one point in 2022. She likes to play them I like to fix them. So it works for us! I have saved a few pinball machines from the landfill over the years. I also use saved and restored Pinball i worked on as STEM education at my elementary campus where I am the Science lead. I do not resell them as they become tools for demonstration of engineering for kids.
