*vinca minor "periwinkle": modest, low spreading with small leathery leaves. Lovely blooms in April/May.
*lily of the valley: old-fashioned, low-growing fragrant favorite offers wide dark leaves and a wand of tiny white bells which bloom in May. Hardy in shade. Tolerates sun. Spreads, but can be controlled.
*gooseneck loosestrife: knee-high sun-loving plant spreads readily. Offers 3" conical clusters of tiny white flowers which curve in a "gooseneck" shape.
*Bishop's weed: leaves dark green in sunny areas, white lacy blooms on foot-high stems above foliage.
