Very, old, heavy babygate (Far Bletchley MK3)

This is at least 35+ years old. Screws into wall (picture 3) and slots over the pegs, closure by pulling the sphere (picture 2)
Unfortunately plate that slots into is lost.
If not usuable as a baby gate any good for scrap metal?
