B&D hand vac, needs new batteries (Brighton)

Used Black & Decker hand vacuum, model HLVA320J. Factory installed rechargeable batteries are worn out. From searching online it appears that a sufficiently handy person could replace them, but I'm not that person. I hate that the company didn't design it to make the batteries easy to replace, and I'd love to get this into the hands of someone who can reuse it instead of just throwing it away.
