The Giving Box Update
January 21, 2025
Hello and good morning neighbors, it's your Davenport Road Mad Scientist Quinton here again with an inventory update. Over the last several days I have received several bags full of girls clothes, age 6-12 maybe. Not sure how big the average 10 year is old nowadays. 🤷♂️ I dont have much in the way of boys clothes though and I don't have any baby or toddler clothes right now either. I've rearranged the area where the shoes are so there's more floor space now. I have also put 99% of the men's, women's and children's clothes on hangers. I ran out of hanging room so I need yall to help me thin out the clothes please. 😁
Most of the frozen food is gone out of the back freezer but there's still plenty of canned fish and vegetables on the rack, peanut butter and bags of prunes in the chest freezer with the window. I think theres a few of those Food Lion meal boxes left as well.
In bed and bath, the medicine cabinet behind the mirror is overflowing with new items and there's also some new medical stuff like large bandages and pill boxes. There's still bed sheets and pillow cases but the blankets are gone. There's also some new body wash and hair care products in the brown cabinet. I still have disposable adult underwear and small couch pillows up for grabs too.
I have a roll of tan-brown carpet, maybe 12ft x 15ft or so (I have not measured it yet) laying in the middle of the floor so please don't trip over it because I stubbed my toe the other day and maxed out my insurance claims for the year. 😝 All kidding aside, please be careful anyway because we're still smack in the middle of a very cold winter and we know ice doesn't care who it makes fall down. 🥶🥶
I have included a brief Frequently Asked Questions section to provide more details to help everyone out. 😎 If you have more in depth questions then please reach out and I will do my very best to get you an answer.
FAQ:
* Do I need to make an appointment to pickup or donate? No, appointments are not necessary unless you are just dying to meet me. 😝 Come by during daylight and in the evenings when the lights are on.
* What are the hours you are open? Typically I try to run from 8 am to 8 pm depending on the season. I try to NOT encourage neighbors to visit during unfavorable weather unless its an emergency.
* What should or shouldn't I donate?
SHOULD: We accept usable household items like kitchenwares, small appliances like hot plates, coffee makers and crock pots, shelf stable cans, boxes and bags, frozen items and even home canned foods in mason jars. **Mason jars are expensive and I request the empty jars be brought back clean so they can be reused.** We also take all usable clothing, shoes and accessories. We take toiletries like deodorant, shampoo and toothpaste, medical supplies like band aids and antibiotic ointments, bed linens and heavy blankets. We also accept books, crafty items, property care equipment, garden seeds, construction materials and tools of any flavor.
SHOULD NOT: We do not accept prescription medications. We do not accept any firearms, ammunition or explosive materials. We do not accept any illegal substances or "drug paraphernalia". Any items from this list will be immediately confiscated and destroyed or turned over to the proper authorities so leave your bong and glock at home, ok.
