OLD Freeview recorder - needs new HDD (Chorlton M21)
Promised
This is an old DigiFusion FVRT150 - look it up and you'll get an idea of how old it is. Its HDD has failed. You need an 80 - 120 IDE HDD replacement. You can get one from eBay for under £10. You'll also need a 12V/ 5A power supply. But read to the end of this post. Why you might want to do this: It's a Freeview "set-top" box that can pause/rewind the programme you're watching, and record for later viewing. It came with an 80GB 3.5" drive but I replaced it with a 2.5" 160GB laptop drive, which is quieter and uses less power. (The original power supply couldn't manage the demands of the 3.5" HDD.) The FVRT150 can only use 120GB, but that doesn't matter. I had to get an adapter to fit the 2.5" drive. I'll leave it in the machine. You can also do things like adjust the start and end time of the recording, so not limited to the scheduled times, and edit recordings you've made by trimming the start and end. We got a BT Youview box to replace the Digifusion and I was disappointed not to have those options. Why not: We stopped using it when whoever was providing the 14(!) day electronic programme guide killed the service and we were left with only the current day's programmes: that is you could tune to what is on now or set a programme later in the same day to record, but not further ahead than that. Shame. Also it's Freeview only - no internet link or catch-up. If you want to see the enthusiasm people had for these machines, look for the DigiFusion discussions on DigitalSpy. It would be a pity to scrap it if anyone could make use of it, but off to the tip if no response in a week. Collect from Chorlton M21

Unusual adjustable chair (Chorlton M21)
Gifted
Unusual because it goes quite high and has a foot rest, so for sitting at something like a counter, rather than a desk. The two pictures show it in a low and high position. The stick leaning up against it is a metre rule, to give you an idea of the adjustment range. The base is a five-legged spider, without castors. Adjustable back. The gas mechanism is a bit leaky so the usable height range (as pictured) is a bit less than you m ight expect if you weren't sitting on it. And if left to its own devices it has a tendency to raise the seat if you're not sitting on it. When you sit down you can use the height lever to fix the position again. Has been languishing in the cellar so you'll want to give it a good hoovering. Collect from Chorlton M21. Emails from Freegle often get diverted by the junk filter. Please give me some contact details that you will be keeping an eye on to make an arrangement quickly.

Old Hotpoint Washing machine - for repair (Chorlton-cum-Hardy M21)
Expired
This front-loader from 1989 needs new bearings. The parts are easily available (bearing set about £10) but none of the repairers I've contacted are interested in the job, which I guess is quite time-consuming. If you know what you are doing you could do this yourself - there are quite a few instructional videos online. The ones I've looked at are for more recent machines and I could not work out how to take enough of the machine apart to get at the bearings. It can be done, though: the bearings on this machine were replaced about 6 years ago. Why might you want this? Well, you could get a working washing machine for £10 + your labour. It's from the days when robust engineering wasn't ditched to reduce production costs. It's much simpler than modern machines, so less to go wrong. It still has 7 basic programmes, + choice of spin-speed, half load and prewash. You can fill it from the hot water supply, which might be cheaper than filling with cold and heating in the machine. Why might you not? Although it's worked with very few problems for over 30 years there's no guarantee that it won't develop another fault. Maximum load is 4kg on a cotton wash, which is much less than most machines today. Model is 9533. Note the picture is taken from the internet. It's the same model, but much newer-looking than the one I have.

Black and Decker WALLmate (Chorlton-cum-Hardy M21)
Gifted
This is like a Workmate - a small worktable with a moving top that can be used to clamp the workpiece, but it only has two legs: the back is designed to be fixed to a wall. Out of use it folds up against the wall if you don't have space to keep it out permanently. I have used an old trestle so that it can be moved around (and, outside) to support the back. You can have the trestle, or not, as you wish. Collect from Chorlton M21 I can't stop Freegle messages getting treated as spam so sometimes miss them. I shall wait a few days to see how many reply.
