It does not require a power source; one's pedaling powers the control panel. The bike provides a variety of exercise programs that vary the resistance of the pedals. The seat is adjustable for persons of varying heights, and includes handles that, while gripped during exercise, monitor your heartbeat. The control panel also provides other information such as calories used, distance ridden, etc.

One slips the top of a sock onto the curved center of the device up to the heel of the sock (3rd picture), then one can put the sock on by sticking their foot into the hole in the middle (see 4th picture) and pushing their foot down and away from the device.
