Shade Trees (5-gal.containers) (Lewis Library, Fontana, CA)
Free top quality shade trees are available to green your yard and cool your neighborhood! University of California Master Gardeners are partnering with the Inland Empire Resource Conservation District and the Lewis Library in Fontana to give away free drought, heat, and pest-resistant shade trees to residents of the Fontana/Rialto area. Pre-register using the QR code shown in the photos section of this post or by copying this URL into your computer: Note: You must pick up your tree on Saturday, March 15 between 10am - 11:30am. Univ. of CA Master Gardeners are giving away free drought tolerant shade trees along with information on their planting and care on Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 10am-12pm at the Lewis Library in Fontana. You must pre-register here to hold your tree. . Trees will fit in the trunk of a sedan as well as an SUV or truck. They grow fast and offer shade in 5 years! They are also heat and pest resistant and will attract pollinators and birds to your yard. We are a non-profit and will not sell or provide your personal information to anyone or any group. Interesting facts: Did you know that the shade from a single tree can reduce the air temperature around the tree by 6-8 degrees F and the surface temperature underneath it by up to 70 degrees F during summer?
