Bible from USS Osberg DE-538 (Hendersonville) Hello. I just re-discovered a King James Bible, hardback with a blue cover, that has U.S.S. OSBERG printed in gold on the front. On the bottom of the cover in smaller print it says "Presented by the American Bible Society". I received this in the 1970's from a woman who attended our church and I believe her late husband served in the ship during the Korean War. My father told her I had dreams of attending the US Naval Acadamy at the time (never happened) and she wanted me to have it. There is some discoloration on the cover as well as wear and binding is cracked. I have already searched for an association or society for the ship that may have wanted it and do not find one. If anyone knows of someone with an attachment to the ship or just wants a bit of Navy history, you may have it. Pictures available upon request.
