Christmas lights = need repair (Arcadia nr Baldwin-Stocker Sch)

4 strings of white Christmas lights - need repair. One string about half of the lights are ok. The other 3 strings no lights come on. Repair is not hard or complicated, but I do not have the light string repair tool, and don't want to spend $20 to buy it, and I have too many projects.
