Apples (cooking and eating apples) (Hatfield AL10)
A bit surprising, but it seems like another very good year for apples here. At the moment I am collecting windfalls only, and they usually have damage, so they don't store for more than a few weeks. I have been eating them by cutting and editing rather than biting in. So these are not for you if a few brown bits put you off, but they are *delicious*. However these eating / "dessert" apples are delicious - I do not give away anything I would not use myself. But they are far more than my friends/family/neighbours and I can eat, and I will run out of freezer space for the cooking apples. Similarly the cooking apples - people usually peel and chop anyway, and these are good for that. Probably not good if you wanted to bake them whole. I don't know what variety - it's a very old tree, but they look like Bramleys and cook like Bramleys. They "fall" well.

Verbena bonariensis plants (Hatfield AL10)
Good in containers and quick to grow, verbena bonariensis is a beautiful hardy perennial with beautiful clusters of small purple flowers on tall wiry stems over a long flowering season. Flowers beloved of bees and butterflies (you can see a bumblebee in the corner of the photo if you look closely). Comes back from the base stronger every year and will self seed around if it's happy. Watch goldfinches try to balance on the seed heads next winter. Wants sharp drainage and full sun to be truly happy, but I have sticky clay and a fair amount of shade and it does fine. It's really loving the summer we're having. I have pots of established plants from seedlings earlier this year. They're ready to plant out. Healthy seedlings have started popping up in the ground too, so bare root (unpotted) plants are also available straight from the ground.

Tiny Christmas car biscuit tin (Hatfield AL10)
Small, novelty, M&S branded, Christmas-themed, biscuit tin. Received as a gift with sweets inside. Anybody interested before this goes in the metal recycling. *Quite small* sorry I should have added something to the photo to show scale. Maybe this is smaller than you think it is! From memory, about 6 inches long so you can't fit many biscuits! It's got a hole in the top where you can attach other decorations etc. Not much good as a toy, but the wheels do rotate.

Lovage/maggi seeds (Hatfield AL10)
Very satisfying to grow because it's so vigorous, with pretty pretty yellow flowerheads, very good for wildlife and doesn't need much looking after, lovage is a fully hardy herbacious perennial growing from nothing to 8ft+ every year. The leaves have a very strong celery flavour that survives cooking, and adding a few chopped leaves to soups, stews sauces etc gives a good extra background flavour. So much easier to grow that celery itself. I think you can also use the seed either ground up as a flavour power or to make a tea (though personally I can't imaging wanting to drink that flavour!) Mine flowered very well this year, and I've collected a lot of ripe seed. Another good aspect is after being cut to the ground, it will produce another fresh flush of leaves lasting the rest of the year. Wildlife benefits include the flat topped accessible compound flower heads which are visited by lots of insects including hoverflies, and the hollow stems which give good hiding places which invertebrates like ladybirds use to overwinter.

Child’s car seat (Mill End, WD3)
This is 8-10 years old, so not up to the latest specifications, but it’s a decent brand. It might tide someone over until they can get a new one or be all right for trips with the grandparents or similar. Suitable from around three years old to around ten years old, depending on their height & weight. It has been used regularly in our car by our two children, the youngest of whom grew out of it a few months ago. They both found it comfortable. The covers were last washed a couple of months ago. Quite easy to take the covers on and off. If you want to wash them it’s safest to do it by hand to avoid shrinkage.
