Finish is black leatherette, and the construction appears to be stout rigid board. Brass corner reinforcement and combination locks. Much used, and rather tatty, but still serviceable.

It's by Prima. Works fine. The plastic parts are cracked but operated just fine like that. I would say that if you let your kids use the machine, and those parts drop on the floor (like our kids did), then they'll probably break.
