very old but never used, 2 x 1 inch area on one side, near the edge was attacked by moss and lost the hair (picture is not quite clear, sorry), could it be covered by some decoration perhaps ? or another piece of fur ? or use it for crafts ?

These were perfect when I bought them, about 20 years ago ... now, not so much. In fact, to be frank, they're rather shabby – but still warm and cozy! The soles have holes at the edges (see pic), which could be glued; and they're a couple sizes too big for me – I always wore them with thick insoles. Or maybe you could just cut them up for crafting? Seems a pity to waste good sheepskin!
