Fixit Clinic Tech Tuneup Tuesdays @ Hardware, Repair and SoftWEAR Hacking Tuesdays
-Batty Battery?
-Creaky Chromebook?
-Erratic Electronics?
-Lethargic Laptop?
-Maddening Macbook?
-Twitchy Tablet?
-Wonky Windows?
-Other tech or techy stuff that's just not right?
This stuff is notoriously challenging to address, but we *might* just be able to help: join us at Sudoroom Tuesday evenings in Oakland for Fixit Clinic at Hardware, Repair and SoftWEAR Hacking Nite. Bring your project to work on or help others with their projects.
Join a bunch of great people in a great place: among the other things going on are:
General repair via Fixit Clinic in Oakland: Bring your broken, non-functioning things – electronic gadgets, appliances, computers, toys, etc.– for assessment, disassembly, and possible repair. We’ll provide workspace, specialty tools, and guidance to help you disassemble and troubleshoot your item. First-time repairers and “Fixing Families” are heartily encouraged to attend. Check in your item here: https://bit.ly/itemcheckin
SoftWEAR hacking too: the Omni Commons Sewing Lab is also active for group sewing for textile projects and technical repairs. We’ve got many different types of sewing machines available including heavy duty and serger sewing machines. You’re also welcome to bring your own machine to have it checked out and tuned up or to just sew alongside others.
If you can't make it in person: join the jitsi video chat through https://meet.waag.org/turtlesturtlesturtles
Hope to see you there!
Other ongoing Repair Events:
Every 3rd Friday of the month: USA-CA-Oakland Circuit Launch Build Night:
https://www.meetup.com/circuit-launch/
ALSO: Repair Virtually Through Discord: You're also heartily invited to get help with repair (or give help) through the online Global Fixers Server on Discord; that’s turned into a great resource for knowledge sharing and training amongst repairers where they can broaden skills, share skills, cross-train, and bring items they can't repair on their own (“stumpers").
Follow the instructions in this Google Doc to join Discord: Global Fixers:
