Kefir “grains” (north Lake City)
Giving-away starter amounts (about ¼ cup) of kefir “grains.” The culture is a commensal of yeast & bacteria species rather like a kombucha “SCOBY,” and will turn ordinary milk into a delicious, very-healthful drink in a day or so. The organisms in kefir are some of *the* best probiotics and help significantly in adjusting and balancing the human gut biome (i.e., after a course of antibiotics) and suppressing overgrowths of candida and anaerobes. What you make at home is *far* better (and better for you) than the store-bought variety. There’s tons of information on the Web, or I can tell you everything you need to know. (And it’s pronounced keh-FEER. I called it KEE-fr for decades tho.)

Electric chipper - home size (Seattle: N. Greenwood)
Older chipper/shredder. Will take branches up to an inch and make quick work of twigs and such. Will do leaves, but opening is not large. The cutting surfaces need sharpening. It burns the capacitor if you overload it and I don't know if that part is still avaialble. Working fine now and I never caused the capacitor to burn out, but everytime someone else used it, they'd overload it in impatience I guess. This is not for commercial level use, but great for a normal yard. Use it for mulch and save on what you buy and what you send to Clean Green. Is very easy to access blades for sharpening (two big nuts). Very safe as the opening is pretty much impossible to get your hands into.

Seeking clear or translucent drainage liners for repotting orchids. We're repotting orchids (for free) for freecycle community (see gift post) and the response has exceeded materials on hand. Needed for immediate use for repotting of community member's orchids. Any size or translucent color pot liner will do, dirty or clean (we can sanitize). Unbroken or nearly unbroken, please. Note that these are NOT the same as black nursery pots. They are clear or translucent for root and drainage inspection and are designed to help moisture evaporate very quickly from the potting bark/substrate. We are a car-free household in NW Ballard.
