Made out of an old Rubbermaid Roughneck large trash can, this compost system has worked well for decades. Holes for air and ventilation are drilled all over can and lid.
One problem: there is a new hole in the side (unfortunately rat circumference). The can had a small dent in the side from a hot tool from decades ago and only recently the rats got busy. I solved this temporary like with a couple of cement bricks packed against that hole, but I'm moving on to another composter, and this won't get used again here. Probably could be solved with some hardware cloth bolted over the hole or something.
