We have a second generation chromecast we are done with. This is the kind that you just cast from your device (no menus like Apple TV or similar), but it worked just fine for us that way for years.
Worth noting, we recently upgraded to wi-fi 6 and found that it didn't like it very much, but it was working just fine before then.
