Old Kenmore Water Softener (Wolfe & Reed)

While you could probably make it work, this would be more suitable for parts and/or other use. For example, the brine tank could be used to collect rain water. The fiberglass resin tank could be converted to a rainwater filter by replacing the resin with gravel, activated charcoal, and sand.

This is considered "salvage" because:
- There is a slow leak where the bypass valve meets the main valve, and it still leaks after replacing the O-ring; and
- It has been in service for 25 years(!) (However, Sunnyvale water is not very hard, so it hasn't been working hard.)

Also included is a very new set of clips and O-rings, the unsuccessful attempt to repair the slow leak.
