Orchid clear pot and bark (Cotham BS6)

Any orchid-wise house plant experts out there? I'm trying to bring an abandoned cymbidium back to life. Not looking very hopeful but I won't give it up yet. Have watched videos on YouTube etc using garlic infusion or rice water; and always seem to use clear transparent pot with pine bark. I am a complete novice in this specialised culture, but would appreciate any help to give this plant new life. Thanks in hope.
