Ladybird lamp - a challenge (Poets MK40)

Lovely soft ladybird which I think is a nightlight - BUT - I can't get the light to work. I've tried new batteries but no luck. Is there someone who wants to try and get it to work? I don't want to send it to the take it to the tip before it has the chance of working. Are you up for the challenge?
