Books to Help Build a Classical Education Library (Lower Bevendean BN2)
Hello everyone, I am in the process of building a small library focused on classical education for myself, my children, and, God willing, future generations. Rather than buying everything new, I thought I would ask whether anyone has books sitting on their shelves that they no longer need. I am looking for books covering subjects such as: * Theology and comparative religion * Philosophy * Liberal arts * Classical literature * History and civilisation * Poetry * Rhetoric, logic and ethics * Political philosophy * Science and mathematics (especially classic works) I'm particularly interested in authors such as Shakespeare, Homer, Virgil, Plato, Aristotle, Socrates, Cicero, Augustine, Thomas Aquinas, Dante, Chaucer, Cervantes, Milton, John Locke, David Hume, Immanuel Kant, G.W.F. Hegel, Friedrich Nietzsche, Søren Kierkegaard, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Leo Tolstoy, Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, Emily Dickinson, T.S. Eliot, C.S. Lewis, G.K. Chesterton, John Henry Newman, Edmund Burke, Alexis de Tocqueville, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, and many other classic authors. I'm also very happy to receive collections of older books, even if they don't fall exactly into the categories above, as long as they have educational or literary value. If you have any books you no longer want, I would be very grateful to give them a new home. I'm happy to collect at a time convenient for you. Thank you very much.

books please - Logic, Grammar, Rhetoric & Liberal Art (Lower Bevendean BN2)
Hello, I’m looking to build a personal library focused on **classical education, philosophy, logic, grammar, rhetoric and the liberal arts**. If anyone has any **unwanted, spare or second-hand copies** of books in these areas that they no longer need, I would be very grateful. I’m particularly interested in older editions as well as modern introductions and commentaries. I’m happy to **collect locally where possible**, or **pay reasonable postage costs** if the books need to be posted. I can also buy books if they are reasonably priced. ### Authors and classical works I’m particularly looking for **Plato** * *Republic* * *Phaedo* * *Meno* * *Gorgias* * *Phaedrus* * *Cratylus* * *Theaetetus* * *Sophist* **Aristotle** * *Organon* * *Categories* * *On Interpretation* * *Prior Analytics* * *Posterior Analytics* * *Topics* * *Sophistical Refutations* * *Rhetoric* * *Poetics* * *Metaphysics* * *Physics* * *Nicomachean Ethics* * *On the Soul (De Anima)* **Grammar & Language** * Dionysius Thrax — *The Art of Grammar* * Apollonius Dyscolus — *On Syntax* * Priscian — *Institutiones Grammaticae* **Rhetoric** * Cicero — *De Oratore* * Cicero — *Brutus* * Quintilian — *Institutio Oratoria* **Logic & Dialectic** * Porphyry — *Isagoge* * Boethius — works on logic **Classical / Medieval Tradition** * Augustine — *On Christian Doctrine* * Boethius — *The Consolation of Philosophy* * Avicenna (Ibn Sina) — works on logic and philosophy * Al-Farabi — works on logic, language and rhetoric * Averroes (Ibn Rushd) — commentaries on Aristotle ### Other books I’m particularly interested in * *Euclid’s Elements* * *History of Formal Logic* * *The Trivium: The Liberal Arts of Logic, Grammar, and Rhetoric* * *Trivium: The Classical Liberal Arts of Grammar, Logic & Rhetoric* * *Learning to Flourish: A Philosophical Exploration of Liberal Education* * *The Art of Persuasion: Aristotle’s Rhetoric for Everybody* * *The Office of Assertion: An Art of Rhetoric for Academic Essay* * *Good Word Guide: The Indispensable Guide to Excellent Writing and Speaking* * *Leviathan: Or the Matter, Forme and Power of a Commonwealth Ecclesiastical and Civil* * *God and Logic in Islam: The Caliphate of Reason* * *Paradoxes of Education in a Republic* * *America’s Unwritten Constitution: The Precedents and Principles We Live By* * *The Words We Live By: Your Annotated Guide to the Constitution* * *The American Bible: Whose America Is This? How Our Words Unite, Divide, and Define a Nation* I’m especially interested in building a collection around the **Trivium — Grammar, Logic and Rhetoric — and the wider classical liberal-arts tradition**. If you have any books along these lines sitting unused on a bookshelf, in storage, or that you’re thinking of getting rid of, please feel free to message me. **I don’t expect anyone to have the whole list — even one or two books would be greatly appreciated.** Thank you very much!

Broken white bed frame for someone handy / wood for project? (Hanover BN2)
I'm about to dismantle my daughter's old bed. It's slightly broken and I doubt the side-piece repaired with filler can be reliably reassembled. Someone handy might be able to repair this properly and I'm happy to save all the screws and connectors if you want to give this a go. Alternatively, someone might need white wood pieces for a project. I've posted the slats separately but you're welcome to have these too. The drawers are not included - we're keeping these. It's a small double size and was originally the lower half of this triple sleeper: (Dimensions and materials are in the link.) NB Needs to be collected by 4 August. If not taken I'll post again later in the month when I'm available again.
