5yr old fig tree, abundant fruit, 230cm tall (Oldfield Park BA2)
This is a five year-old Brown Turkey fig tree that Iāve grown from a sapling. It has never been sprayed with chemicals, fertilised only with fish bone meal and has been carefully pruned every January. The tree produces large fruit from late August all the way through to early autumn. The figs are very sweet, freeze well (I put them in my porridge) and are indistinguishable from shop-bought fruit. Itās great and Iām very proud that Iāve cultivated it. Somewhat annoying then that itās in the way of our new garage, so is being dug out of the garden by the builders today - Monday 29th June. Itās currently growing well and pruned into a bush thatās about 230cm and 230cm round. Obviously, this needs to be collected by someone with a Transit van or a trailer. Itāll be ready for collection this afternoon and I imagine it needs to be re-planted and heavily watered within the next couple of days for its best chance of survival. A tree this size would cost hundreds of pounds from a garden centre, so if you can come grab it, free is a bargain.

These filled a large, round footstool (100cm diameter), the cover of which is being repurposed, so we're looking for a home for the polystyrene beads, which are in excellent condition and bagged up in approx 10 black bags and ready to go. If no takers within a week, these will have to go to the waste & recycling centre, unfortunately. May be able to deliver, depending on your location.
