Offer: large aluminum frame (Military Rd and 16th St NW, DC) Expired - 75.5" x 25" very sturdy frame that held a mirror; groove for mirror or mat is 3/16" deep. Four sides screw together. Offer: House plants (Military Rd and 16th St NW, DC) Gifted - I have plants thinned from overcrowded pots. Please tell me which ones you'd like. 1. Spathephyllum (peace lily; /): they need at least a 10-inch pot. 2. Aloe vera: this one has wide, recumbent growth. 3. Cactus mammillaria: a couple of clumps I've broken off from the top of the main clump. (They're supposed to take root if you lay them on the surface of sandy soil, but I've never done it.) 4. Jade plants: just stems with leaves, but they're easy to root. Offer: Indoor plants for potting (Military Rd and 16th St NW, DC) Gifted - I have Hawaiian Ti (cordyline terminalis) and Chinese Evergreen (aglaonema commutatum) plants if you have the potting soil and pots. (I thinned my plants today) They're vigorous and have large leaves so I'd recommend at least 8" pots. Also a couple of Dumb Cane (Dieffenbachia Exotica), one of which also comes with a 2-spear, foot-long Snake Plant (sansevieria laurentii). Request: Exercycle (Military Rd and 16th St NW, DC) Expired - For a senior who needs to get moving for her health. Offer: large aloe stem needs new home (Military Rd and 16th St NW, DC) Gifted - It's a big stem with leaves over a foot long, so it needs a big pot. It fell off the main plant. Request: jigsaw puzzles (Military Rd and 16th St NW, DC) Expired - I need 500 to 1000-piece puzzles with no missing pieces for a friend with early dementia. Request: exercise bike (Military Rd and 16th St NW, DC) Expired - Wanted for elderly person to exercise at home Offer: aloe vera plant and leaves (Military Rd and 16th St NW) Gifted - My rather large aloe vera plant climbed out of its pot and fell on the ground, losing multiple leaves. It has a good root structure. It needs a new home, and I hope someone can also use the very juicy leaves that broke off (probably over a pint of liquid if juiced). Offer: Bishop's cap plants (Military Rd and 16th St NW) Gifted - Hearty groundcover that tolerates dry shady spots. Grows 4-10 inches tall, yellow flowers in spring. Deciduous. Latin name is epimedium. Offer: Ground cover and deer netting (Military Rd and 16th St NW) Gifted - Pachysandra: a great ground cover. Pulled up today, ready to transplant. Offer: Functioning scanner in printer (Military Rd and 16th St NW) Expired - Epson XP-800 3-in-one printer no longer prints, but scans just fine, on its own or through a computer. What's wrong: "The printer ink pad has reached the end of its life." If you know how to do replace ink pads yourself, or you just want the scanning capacity, this one's for you. Request: fold-up futons (Military Rd and 16th St NW) Expired - Looking for fold-up futons (sleeping mats) that can be put away during the day. Single, double or queen. For newly-arrived immigrants sleeping in living rooms of family members and friends. Offer: Iris bulbs (Military Rd and 16th St NW) Expired - newly dug up iris bulbs -- you can store them in a cool place and plant them in the fall Offer: perennial groundcover (Military Rd and 16th St NW) Gifted - YPerennial groundcover: Bishop's hat or epimedium: pimedium, also known as barrenwort, bishop's hat, fairy wings, horny goat weed, or yin yang huo (Chinese: 淫羊藿), is a genus of flowering plants in the family Berberidaceae. Thrives in shady and/or dry conditions; good for filling spaces where nothing else will grow. Yellow flowers in spring; 6-12 inches tall; dies back in winter.
