- Hello, We are are a group of local parents with children at Larkmead School in Abingdon and we are launching a new not for profit initiative that we wondered if you would be interested in supporting? We are collecting Prom dresses and suits that are no longer needed and distributing them to students who can’t afford outfits to go to their Prom. We are starting locally in Abingdon but with the right support, are aiming to cover the whole of Oxfordshire. The initiative is inspired by a successful campaign in Birmingham called Madrina (Italian for godmother) which is supporting us with our new Madrina Oxfordshire initiative. The response so far has been incredible - a testament to how much people value the idea of supporting all students to celebrate their educational successes and also from a environmental perspective, reusing expensive clothing that otherwise may never be worn again.
