Roberts clock radio RCM1 (Ashton-on-Ribble PR2)
Gifted

- Needs some TLC - it’s been in a dampish garage for 20 years. Mains powered LW MW and VHF with green LCD clock and some neat woodwork. The radio seems to work OK but the audio is a bit distorted- so I was going to bin it, but thought someone might like it as a do-er-upper. Any “Repair Shop” enthusiasts out there?

- Balsa wood flying aeroplane kit …with one slight problem- looks like the propeller has been lost / used elsewhere… so if you can find/supply a 5-inch plastic prop, you could make this work. Must have got this 15 years ago for my kids… but they were more interested in Pokémon than making things.

- Not been used for 15-20 years. 2 racquets with covers, 2 outdoor shuttles, and my homemade net - needs some tent pegs to hold it up. Was fine for kids aged 8 to 14 ish from memory. But you need a garden with a large-ish lawn. I did have some plastic tape for marking out the “court” but can’t find it.

Dell 3110CN colour laser printer (Ashton-on-Ribble PR2)

- in GWO apart from one teensy weensy flaw - every page has magenta smudges down the left hand side (see pic). For positive thinkers this is a "unique watermark" on every page! Magenta toner has leaked all over the inside. I've tried to clean it several times but it has made no difference. Now the magenta toner has run out and it won't print until a new one is fitted. I have lived with the "watermark" for a year or two but have now decided to get a new printer. If you take this on you will need to fit a new magenta cartridge - they are 35+ quid off ebay for a compatible. But a substandard "compatible" cartridge could be what caused the problem. Until the toner leak it was a rock-solid and reliable printer and could be again. It is however VERY heavy - a 2-foot solid cube. USB or network interface.

- Great little XP machine about 14-15 years old, but I no longer use it. Data cleaned off but I’ve left an old copy of XL and Word on it. It will only run XP which is no longer supported, and ain’t upgradable - so it will be a risk connecting it to the internet. Comes with psu, 4 batteries, usb floppy drive reader and carry case. Gotta go by Thursday !

Motion LE1700 tablet PC (Ashton-on-Ribble PR2)

- Don’t get too excited - it’s heavy and old and has been in a drawer for 10 years (no kidding). Must be c2007 era. Just before proper tablets like iPads came out! Was the “rolls-Royce” option then and cost around 2 grand! It has a special tablet edition of Windows XP and I doubt it’s upgradable. XP was a cracking OS but is no longer supported and ain’t secure for accessing the internet. If that bothers you. I have cleared all the data off it, and checked it out, and it’s still pretty nippy. It operates with a stylus ( actually very usable) but I think you can plug a usb keyboard in. MS Onenote 2007 is installed (designed for tablets) as well as the XL PowerPoint and Word 2003. The battery and extended battery are totally dead after all that time in a drawer and won’t recharge. I found a Dell charger that will power it, though. If you are into electrical repairs I reckon the main battery is just 4 x 18650 cells if you can crack the case open without busting it. It has wireless and you can even stick a SIM card in it. Comes with a neat book-style carry case. Details and manual here.

- Must be 35-40 years old. Needs a bit of TLC. Been meaning to fix it for ages - the bridge is missing which was just a bit of wood with a ridge on it. But I never did and it had just been gathering dust. ISTR it had a lovely sound once.
