Request: old computers and parts (Brooklin) Expired - Have old computers, laptops, or parts that you want to dispose of? Don't throw them in the garbage! I’ll come and pick them up from you. I rebuild and refurbish PCs and laptops and donate them to charities like Durham Children's Aid Foundation, Carea, RCTO, or even directly to people in need. Many used office computers no longer serviceable for business and not of interest to gaming enthusiasts can still fulfill an important niche, providing more kids the opportunity to develop their digital literacy skills, and supporting a better chance for a bright future. The catalogue of systems I have rebuilt is available on my YouTube channel, Any unusable parts are taken for proper e-waste disposal, so they don’t end up in a landfill; I don’t take items to scrap yards for cash. There are several businesses in the region you can contact if you have scrap you'd like to sell. Unfortunately, I don’t accept any items from homes that permit indoor smoking, due to challenges with removing those odours from equipment.

Free: computer (Brooklin) Gifted - Basic Computer Setup I have a few basic computer setups available for people in need. Included is a computer running Windows 10, a screen, keyboard, and cables. They can connect to ethernet but don't have WiFi, which you should be able to find at thrift stores, dollar stores, Walmart, etc for cheap. If you cannot afford a computer right now and need one for your kid for school or for yourself to learn a new skill, I can help. I only have a few machines so please understand if I don't respond to all requests. Contactless porch pickup in Brooklin.

Request: Got an old PC? Give it to me (Brooklin) Expired - Thank you! If you have old computers, laptops, or computer parts that you have been meaning to get rid of, don't throw them in the garbage. I will come and pick them up from you. There are a lot of used office computers that are no longer serviceable for business, and aren't going to be interesting to computer enthusiasts for gaming, but can still run a current Windows 10 install pretty well. This is perfect to use in a lower income school, library, or community centre, so that more kids can have the opportunity to gain computer literacy and have a greater chance at a future that may otherwise completely pass them by. Of particular interest are working laptops, especially if they came with Windows 7 or 10. These are great for students to be able to get online and learn from wherever they are living. I catalogue the machines that I am able to rebuild for donation on my YouTube channel My primary place for donations is the Durham Children's Aid Foundation, but I also donate to other local charities and directly to people in need. Anything that is actually unusable I take for proper e-waste disposal so it doesn't end up in a landfill. I do not take items to scrapyards for cash; if you have scrap you want to get paid for there are businesses in the region that do that. Unfortunately I will not accept anything that came from a smoking house, due to the challenges with removing the smells from equipment.
