Vintage Ewbank Classic Manual Carpet Sweeper - maroon (Primrose LA1)

OFFERED: A vintage (70s/80s?) Ewbank Classic Manual Carpet Sweeper, finished in maroon plastic, with a chrome handle, which can be dissembled for storage. Most effective for brushing up crumbs and fluff from short-pile carpets, not so great on long-pile or smooth surfaces. The grey plastic lever just releases the handle for use, otherwise it is locked in a vertical position. You empty it into your bin by just pulling the black panels open from underneath. My aunt had this one from new, but I remember my grandparents had a much earlier version (metal, I think) when I was a kid... I have cleaned it up as best I can.

OFFERED: An Easylife HDL-210A Bed Cleaner, a sort of mini vibrating vacuum cleaner for loosening bed bugs, dust and mites, with a little UV light (don't look at it!) that allegedly sterilises as it goes. The device has a small removable pot in which anything sucked up is deposited, which is easily removed for emptying. This was purchased by an elderly aunt of mine, though I doubt it ever got used very much! Her house was spotless though...

OFFERED: Two items of turquoise/green clothing previously used as work clothes by my late aunt, who was a passionate gardener! The fleece is a polyester one from M&S. It is in pretty good condition, the zip works fine, though the fabric is probably a bit thinner than it originally was. The rainjacket is from C&A (which dates it!), the zip works fine, but the lining is wearing thin in places and it has quite a lot of marks on it, as it was probably used for decorating, as well as gardening. The jacket label says Size 14. I have no idea why the fleece label says 22, but if one fits you, so will the other! Both have been put through the washing machine so are "clean", if not stainless! Perfect for mucking about in if you have a garden or an allotment. Maybe some of my late aunt's gardening skills will rub off on you...

The other two only have a little left in them - The Body Shop (White Musk) and Clarins (Serenity).

OFFERED: I have 6 x 2-Ring folders surplus to requirements. All are in good condition, though the pink one is slightly dog-eared at the corners. The pink and brown ones are paper-covered cardboard construction. The black one is PVC-covered cardboard. One red one is PVC-covered cardboard with a clear cover and spine for inserting identification information, etc., and the other red one is a softer plastic cover.

Old School Books - German Language novels, with margin notes (Primrose LA1)
OFFERED: I have no idea why I have kept these so long, but I have three of my old German lesson school books (1974/75), complete with pencil margin notes of either the odd translation of a word or phrase, or just a clarification of what was going on in the plot. Irrungen, Wirrungen, by Theodor Fontane Und Sagte Kein Einziges Wort, by Heinrich Boll Tonio Kroger, by Thomas Mann All are rather worn, from being carried around in a school briefcase for months, and the spine of Tonio Kroger has been repaired with sticky tape. The pages of the Heinrich Boll book are quite yellowed around the edges. (I don't THINK I wrote anything rude in them...) May be of interest to anyone studying German, or who is just a Germanophile!

OFFERED: A SONY CFS-201L Radio Cassette Recorder, finished in white and powered via a mains lead or (optionally) 6 x R20 batteries. It is quite old, and I cannot get the cassette mechanism to work. It sounds like it is trying to play something, but nothing moves. The radio function, on the other hand, is fine. The radio settings are SW/MW/LW/FM, which will give you a clue as to its age, and tuning is obviously manual. For younger Freeglers, that means there are no digital displays, and you have to turn knobs and dials to change anything...! It also has a headphones socket, but I haven't tested that. BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED.

This device is intended to be used by someone who may struggle to get up out of a bed, or who needs to grab hold of something in order to reposition themselves while in bed. This version is compatible only with a slatted bed base, and NOT suitable for a divan base. It must be securely strapped to the bed frame in the correct position for the user, and the weight of the mattress and the person in the bed are what keep it securely in position.

OFFERED: A set of working Battery-powered LED Fairy lights, intended for outdoor use, but suitable for indoors too. The light string is pretty long. I haven't measured it, but estimate it may be about 10 metres. The lights work, but looked rather dim on the batteries I tried them with, though they may look brighter with fresher batteries! The green plastic control box has two buttons on it, one for power on/off and the other for changing the light pulse frequency, and there is a screw for tightening the lid against a rubber seal for optimum weather protection. Frankly I am not sure either button works as it should! I managed to select "Continuous ON" and opted to switch the lights off by removing a battery, which worked for me. BATTERIES NOT SUPPLIED.

OFFERED: A well-used but good condition Slazenger badminton racquet, with its original protective racquet head cover. A fairly basic racquet, I think this was the one I used when I first played regularly (1980s...). There are no broken strings, but a couple in the middle have clearly been replaced. The handle grip tape is starting to loosen and could do with relacing, which is a pretty easy job.

It does need a new handle grip, however. I bought it new many years ago (can't remember if it was 1980s or 1990s) but it was looked after and really not used very much.

OFFERED: A matching Stainless Steel Non-Stick Frying Pan and Milk Pan. The frying pan is 21cm in diameter and the milk pan is 15cm in diameter. Neither has a lid. Both pans have a patch where the non-stick coating has come away. With the frying pan it is on the flat part, but on the milk pan it is higher up by the handle mounting. Quite old, but both still have some useful life left in them.

OFFERED: A set of three stainless steel saucepans, comprising a two-handled 22cm diameter one with a lid, a 18cm diamater saucepan with a lid, and a 15cm diameter saucepan (no lid). The largest pan has a copper bottom to aid heat conductivity. The lid of the 18cm one rattles around a bit and might usefully be replaced if you are handy. Quite an old set, but all three pans still have some useful life left in them.
