Repair Café: Buckden Village Hall

Having a post-Christmas clear out of things that no longer work, toys which didn't survive the Christmas holidays, etc? Our Repairers might be able to fix them for free so do think about coming along to the Repair Cafe before consigning them to the bin and rushing to buy new in the "January Sales". We can also offer repairs to garments and alterations or perhaps you are planning ahead for the spring and want you garden tools sharpening?
We’ll be at Buckden Village Hall between 1.30 and 4.30 p.m. on Saturday 7th February and look forward to seeing you there! Bookings will open on January 1st. Paper copies will also be available in Buckden Library or from the Village Hall.
You can just turn up on the day but may have to wait. Never mind though, there’ll be tea, cakes/savouries to purchase at the Café. If you’ve nothing to be mended, please do join us for a cuppa. Unfortunately we don't have a card reader so cafe sales are cash only.
Thank you to everyone who came to our last event in November. Once again our repairers managed to fix 2/3 items and only 4 out of the 50 seen had to be consigned to the bin. The generous donations received are really helping us to keep this popular event going - thank you everyone!

The Climate Change Mitigation Advisory Group of the Parish Council are working to make a more sustainable future for the village. One of the things we want to do is to reduce the amount of “stuff” that people buy and send to landfill.
We hope that by holding a repair cafe at least twice a year we might be able to start to decrease things bought and disposed off unnecessarily. We also want to provide a community focus for more action on tackling climate change.
Currently run by a core group of eight volunteers, we would love to welcome anyone who is interested in the Repair Café movement to join us, especially anyone with repair skills.
